Thiès : Arrêté avec 500 g de chanvre indien, un berger déclare l’avoir ramassé
S. Sow, a 30-year-old shepherd, was arrested by the gendarmerie in possession of 500g of Indian hemp, following an anonymous tip.
In court, the defendant denied the charges against him. He explained that he had found, on his way to his sheepfold, a bag containing Indian hemp which he intended to consume.
"It was on my way to the sheepfold that I picked up a bag of Indian hemp on the road. I took it for my personal use. I smoke Indian hemp, but I don't sell it," he said.
Despite these explanations, the public prosecutor requested the strict application of the law.
The verdict is expected soon.
