Tribunal correctionnel de Dakar : Le professeur Daouda Ndiaye reconnu non coupable
The Dakar Criminal Court cleared Professor Daouda Ndiaye of all suspicion on Thursday, August 28. Prosecuted for breach of trust involving 65 million CFA francs to the detriment of the Swiss company Naturasana AG, the parasitologist, who is also the Director General of the International Center for Research and Training in Applied Genomics and Health Surveillance (CIGASS) located at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD), was dismissed from the prosecution.
"I am currently in the United States. I just met my lawyer, Mr. Abou Alassane Diallo. Let us give thanks to God who allowed us to win my case against the Swiss company Naturasana, which accused me of breach of trust on a research project. We have greatly won the case," reacted the former candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Before specifying: "I was dismissed from prosecution, that is to say, there is not an ounce of guilt. For the court, I have committed no crime and no offense is accused of me. Thank you very much to the Senegalese justice system for allowing me to clear my name."
Returning to the accusation, Professor Ndiaye declared in the columns of "l'Observateur" that it was "a group of malicious individuals who attempted to exploit my notoriety and my scientific credibility to fraudulently validate a clinical study."
According to him, they committed forensic forgery. "Specifically, they approached me with a funding proposal to conduct a phase 3 clinical trial in Senegal. However, Senegalese regulations require that this type of study be first conducted in another country before being authorized locally. They therefore provided me with documents supposedly proving that phase 2 had been conducted in Cameroon. On this basis, I submitted the protocol to the Senegalese ethics committee. But after thorough verification, including at the WHO level, it turned out that these documents were false," he says.
He continued: "The ethics committee raised the alarm as soon as the deception was discovered. They even published a fake study online before the authorities reacted. What they were seeking was to obtain official validation for phase 3 in Senegal using false documents. When they were confronted with the truth, they admitted their fault and declared that they wanted to stop the procedure. I immediately contacted the prosecutor to file a complaint, so that they could be prosecuted if they set foot in Senegal again."
The parasitologist explained: "The funds they gave me were used according to the rules: they were used to mobilize a team and carry out preparatory work in the field. Today, they are demanding a refund, even though the money has already been invested in legitimate scientific research. I followed all the procedures. They failed to deceive us. They wanted to exploit my credibility, but it didn't work."
