Tribunal de Thiès : Deux ans de prison ferme requis contre un maçon pour détournement de mineure
Thirty-year-old bricklayer M. Diakhaté is being prosecuted before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses on charges of abduction of a minor and indecent assault with violence. He is accused of luring A. Mbaye, a 17-year-old girl, to his room in the Mbour 1 neighborhood to commit sexual acts.
The initial encounter took place at the Nguinth roundabout. According to the prosecution, the defendant approached the young woman and convinced her to go to his home, claiming he wanted to offer her a meal. On two occasions, he allegedly led her to his bedroom.
In court, the victim gave damning testimony: during their first visit, after serving her a drink, Mr. Diakhaté allegedly began making advances. When she refused, he reportedly threatened her, then slapped her before forcibly undressing her. The young woman stated that he had tried to penetrate her, but without success. The case finally came to light during the minor's second visit to the bricklayer's home.
The victim's brother, B. Mbaye, also reported that the teenager had spent an entire night at the defendant's house.
Mr. Diakhaté strongly denies the sexual allegations. While he admits to taking the young woman to his home, he maintains that it was a serious matter: "I fell in love with her when I met her at the Nguinth roundabout and I wanted to marry her. I then took her to my home to introduce her to my mother. In my room, I served her a drink and we simply talked."
The public prosecutor noted, however, that the medical certificate issued by a gynecologist partially contradicts the defendant's claim. While the examination confirms that the victim was not penetrated, it does confirm that her genitals were subjected to physical contact.
Considering the facts to be established, the prosecution requested a two-year prison sentence for Mr. Diakhaté. The court will deliver its verdict soon to determine the defendant's guilt.
