«Un contexte humoristique» : ce que Soya Diagne a dit aux enquêteurs
Soya Diagne, owner of the news website Ledakarois221, was questioned and taken into custody this Monday at the Urban Security (SU) of the Dakar Central Police Station. He is being prosecuted for disseminating false news, statements contrary to public morality, and acts likely to discredit institutions, following a series of posts on his Facebook page.
Confronted by investigators about publications evoking alleged accusations of morality targeting a high-ranking state official, notably a "rape of a Rwandan woman", and about comments concerning the President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, the accused admitted to being the author and sole administrator of his page, reports L'Observateur.
He explained, the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group continued, that his comments, often ironic or written in Wolof, had been published "in a humorous context," a style he regularly uses to "let off steam." According to him, his publications are fiction and pure invention, and the identity he uses on Facebook has no connection with his real person.
Asked about a 56-second video that sparked the rape rumor, Soya Diagne formally denied being the author, saying he never spoke of rape or mentioned the authority concerned, whom he says he deeply respects.
Despite these explanations and his plea for humor, Soya Diagne was placed in police custody following his hearing.
