Voitures, terrains, immeubles… : les chiffres de la traque des crimes financiers
The Financial Judicial Pool (PJF), a specialized jurisdiction that replaced the CREI, is intensifying its "hunt for financial crimes" in Senegal, with figures considered unprecedented. Since its establishment in 2024, 1,090 people have been arrested in connection with 600 cases referred to investigating magistrates, according to exclusive information reported by L'Observateur.
The same source specifies that the investigations are based in particular on 55 reports from CENTIF, 9 from OFNAC, 9 from the IGE, as well as a report from the Court of Auditors. Approximately one hundred cases have already been tried, while several others remain under investigation.
The investigations also led to significant seizures. "The seizures and cash deposits are valued at over 35 billion CFA francs." In addition, "in-kind deposits consisting of six buildings, estimated at 3.9 billion CFA francs" were also seized. The Federal Judicial Police (PJF) also seized "more than 115 vehicles as well as twenty (20) land titles, representing more than 200 hectares," along with various movable assets, details the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group (GFM).
Faced with the sheer volume of cases, the Gfm headline adds, the specialized jurisdiction is counting on strengthening its resources. Priority needs include "recruiting specialized assistants whose expertise represents added value," establishing a "specialized investigation unit attached exclusively to the Pjf," and "continuous capacity building to address this evolving and multifaceted form of crime."
