Vol de 9 500 euros à bord d’un avion : un commerçant écope de six mois ferme
A trader, Tidiane S., was sentenced to six months in prison for the theft of 9,500 euros, or more than 6 million CFA francs, committed on board a Milan-Dakar flight, at the expense of a colleague, Bathio F.
According to the initial investigation reported by L'Observateur, the complainant had entrusted him with the money on the plane due to excess baggage and the authorized amount. But upon landing at Blaise Diagne Airport, Tidiane S. claimed to have lost the envelope, prompting his colleague's complaint.
The daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, which attended the trial, reports that the accused continued to deny the facts. He attempted to justify the mysterious disappearance of the money by referring to his trips to the bathroom, and even blamed a passenger. His explanations, deemed implausible, did not convince the court, which found him guilty.
In addition to his prison sentence, Tidiane S. was ordered to pay 8 million to the civil party, which was demanding 10 million.
