Vents forts et houle : Alerte sur le littoral sénégalais !
The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (Anacim) issued an alert on Monday evening about strong winds and dangerous swells expected on the Senegalese coast between May 12 and 16.
In a note published this Monday, Anacim announces that a swell from the Northwest sector that could exceed 2.5 meters will affect the Grande Côte from Tuesday, May 12 at 03 a.m., before hitting the Dakar area from Wednesday, May 13 at 01 a.m.
The agency also indicates that strong northerly winds, with gusts reaching 40 km/h, will blow across the Grande Côte from Monday, May 11 at 11 p.m. to Wednesday, May 13 at 7 a.m.
According to Anacim, these phenomena could cause very rough seas, difficult conditions for navigation and fishing activities, as well as dangerous waves along the coastline.
The same source warns that the risks particularly concern small boats and sea users.
Faced with this situation, Anacim calls on fishermen, coastal populations and all actors in the maritime sector to exercise the utmost vigilance and to respect safety instructions.
The end of the dangerous swell episode is expected on Saturday, May 16 at 01 a.m., according to the weather forecast.
