Davido et les Grammy Awards : Une histoire d’infortune
Davido's Grammy win remains elusive. The Nigerian Afrobeat star has once again failed to lift this major global music award. His hit "With You," featuring Omah Lay, nominated for Best African Musical Performance, did not impress the jury. They ultimately chose "Push 2 Start" by South African artist Tyla.
The "crowned" title also beat out "Love" by Burna Boy and "Gimme Dat" by Ayra Star feat Wizkid.
It's safe to say that Nigerian Afrobeat was a failure at this 68th Grammy Awards ceremony.
"Oluwa Dey my side"
The performer of "Dami Duro," understandably disappointed but not defeated, shared photos of the ceremony on his X account, accompanied by the message of faith "Oluwa Dey my side," which means "God is on my side."
His uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, sent him a message of support. "Proud of you forever @davido," wrote the politician who has always supported his nephew's career.
This isn't the first setback for the "Fall" singer at the Grammys. He already suffered a defeat at the 66th Victoires de la Musique ceremony in 2024.
Disappointed fans
Nominated in three prestigious categories, including "Best African Musical Performance" with "Unavailable" and "Best World Music Album" with "Timeless", the Atlanta native had not managed to win any awards.
These setbacks disappointed his fans, but the singer maintained his zest for life and his motivation to produce good music. Perhaps this is the attitude he will need to continue to adopt to one day win a Grammy Award.
