Once practiced by the Serer community as a form of post-harvest entertainment during nighttime gatherings, it has become a modernized sport that is currently experiencing a surge in popularity. The charm of this discipline lies in the performance of the griots, whose voices resonate to galvanize the wrestlers as they parade around the arena before each match.
Many traditional Senegalese singers and communicators have always raised their voices with iconic songs that take us deep into the heart of Africa, to cheer up and motivate athletes by invoking their origins.

1. Khar Mbaye Madiaga – “Karo Yalla”
She is one of the most iconic voices in the arena. Born Fatou Khar Mbaye, but better known by her stage name Khar Mbaye Madiaga, she left her mark on Senegalese wrestling with her song "Karo Yalla." 2. Mayé Ndep – “Ndiouk”
Marie Clémence Ngom is known in the dance world not only for her legendary voice, but also for her striking physique and beautiful choreography. With the complete partnership of her late collaborator Babou Ngom, both from the Serer community, they made a remarkable impact with their famous song "Ndiouk," performed in a traditional style to the captivating melodies of percussion.
3. Wally Seck – “Beuré Coosani Mam”
Following in the footsteps of his father, Thione Ballago Seck, who used to release hit songs to excite Senegalese wrestling, Wally Seck has recorded a magnificent song, still relevant today, in which he pays tribute to wrestlers and fans alike.
4. Ndongo Lô – “Lamb Dji”
Renowned for his magnificent performances, Ndongo Lô grew up in the suburbs of Dakar surrounded by wrestlers. He sang about these champions who have made history, from Balla Bèye 2 to Mohamed Ndao Tyson, including all the other sons of Pikine. His famous song "Lamb Dji," commissioned by Alioune Petit Mbaye in 2004, remains one of the most listened-to works by fans.
5. Babou Ngom – “Performance”
He galvanized all the wrestlers with his magic touch. Babou Ngom was the true embodiment of wrestling; in his work, he blended tradition and modernity, possessing an innovative talent as a percussionist. In 2008, one of his performances broadcast on 2STV during the program "Galayabé" caused a sensation and is still frequently used as the theme music in the media. Having passed away in 2025, he remains an iconic figure in Senegalese wrestling, with works destined to endure.
