Mia Guissé : Son premier album "Éclosion" vient couronner une carrière solo tonitruante

She has carved her name into the annals of Senegalese music, and her talent is beyond question. Mia Guissé has embarked on a meteoric musical trajectory that consistently propels her to the forefront. After a series of resoundingly successful singles—from "La vie est belle" to "Lonkotina," including the hits "Idda" and "Gën Leen Paré"—the young singer has cemented her place in the Senegalese musical scene.

This Thursday, October 16th marks a decisive step in her solo career with the long-awaited release of her very first album. Entitled "Éclosion," this opus is composed of 13 tracks, including a promising feature with the diva Viviane Chidid Ndour. The album is announced as a real explosion on the Senegalese music scene, offering a "delirious" musical variety and melodies "that will take your breath away." In a video teaser unveiled this Monday, October 13th, Mia Guissé described this project as authentic and rich in sounds, emphasizing: "The road has been long, but the moment has finally arrived."

From Tambacounda to the Dakar stage

Born Aïssata Guissé in Tambacounda, Mia Guissé is a singer-songwriter, performer, and stylist who seamlessly navigates between mbalax, acoustic music, folk-pop, Afro-pop, and Afrobeat. Her passion for music began as a child, humming along to the Pulaar songs of Baaba Maal. Encouraged by her father, who gave her a guitar, she combined her passion with her studies, notably performing on stage at the inauguration of the school hall at the Mame Cheikh Mbaye high school in Tambacounda.

After obtaining her baccalaureate, the young woman went to Dakar for university, but her dreams of becoming a musician quickly took over. She then abandoned her studies to devote herself entirely to music. In the Senegalese capital, Mia began to make a name for herself and was spotted by Xuman and Keyti, two Galsen rap figures, who invited her to participate in the famous Journal Rappé (JT Rappé) project.

The duo's adventure and solo rebirth

It was in 2015, at the beginning of her career, that Mia Guissé met El Hadji Mbacké Guissé, alias Noface, with whom she was also to participate in the Journal Rappé . Their meeting led to a romantic relationship, a quick marriage, and the formation of a musical duo that made a mark on the Senegalese scene. They notably signed the hit "Reine Xol" in 2016, recorded in tribute to mothers.

In 2022, following her divorce, Mia Guissé made the bold choice to pursue her solo career. Demonstrating courage and perseverance, she quickly became the new sensation of the national music scene. Her "smooth" voice, her thematic sensitivity, and her "undeniable" rhythm give her a unique place.

Her post-breakup tracks, such as "Idda," "La Vie est Belle," "Gën Leen Paré," "Lonkotina," and "Gauche Droite," demonstrate her artistic richness, addressing diverse themes ranging from resilience and optimism to love and controversy. A versatile artist, comfortable with Yéla, rap, and marimba, Mia Guissé also pays homage to the national musical heritage. Despite recurring criticism of her clothing, the artist has affirmed her determination by choosing to take everything positively and focus on the future.

With the release of "Éclosion", Mia Guissé is certainly paving the way for a solo career that already promises to be breathtaking.
