Décès de Georges Déthié Diop : les mots de El Hadj Assane Gueye, Directeur de la Rfm
The Senegalese press is in mourning. Georges Déthié Diop has passed away. The journalist for RFM (Futurs Médias Group) breathed his last this Wednesday following a sudden illness. A sudden and painful loss.
"He started feeling unwell around 7:35 am."
His colleagues at RFM are in shock. "It was around 7:35 a.m. that he started feeling unwell. He went into the studio but couldn't. When I went to see him, he seemed tired. I still have trouble understanding," said Alimou Bâ during the special broadcast.
Elhadj Assane Guèye, the Radio Director, also reacted. He remembered him as a man of exceptional stature and a very valued colleague. Mr. Guèye emphasized that Georges had shown no signs whatsoever that foreshadowed such a thing.
Left on tiptoe...
"The day before yesterday he met me in Thiès. He insisted on coming to offer his condolences. And today, I am informed of his death. This has painfully surprised us. But we accept God's decision. RFM has lost a great man. He was one of the driving forces of this station," he said.
The body is currently at the Ya Salam clinic, reports Mr. Gueye.
