The press release
The Senegalese Basketball Federation deeply regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Mamadou Guèye, physiotherapist for the national teams.
Head of the Physiotherapy Department at Aristide Le Dantec Hospital, and recently in service at the Fann National Hospital Center, Mr. Guèye has dedicated his life to the well-being of patients and athletes.
Within the national teams, he distinguished himself with his professionalism and dedication in several major campaigns, notably the 2013 Women's Afrobasket in Maputo, the 2017 and 2021 Men's Afrobaskets, and the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China. More recently, he participated in the Dakar window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifiers.
With his passing, Senegalese basketball loses a man of value: rigorous, competent, humble and deeply humane.
In this blessed month of Ramadan, we pray that Allah (SWT) grants him His infinite mercy and welcomes him into Paradise.
Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and the entire physiotherapy community.
🙏 May his soul rest in peace.
