Beninese football and FC Metz are in mourning following the announcement by the local press of the death of Razak Omotoyossi this Tuesday, at the age of 39...
The Lagos native, who has played for the Benin national team 47 times (21 goals), has travelled extensively during his career: after starting out in his home country, the solid striker played in Moldova, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Ghana and France during the 2009-2010 season, during which he played for Metz (28 matches, 2 goals).
Returning to Benin in 2019, he played for the Plateau Youth League. The cause of his death is currently unknown.
"FC Metz learned with deep emotion of the sudden death of Razak Omotoyossi, a former player of the club, at the age of 39. The club would like to express its most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones," FC Metz wrote in a statement.
