Limogeage de Sonko : Daouda Tall de la coalition DiomayePrésident réfute la thèse de la trahison
Invited to the "Grand Jury" of RFM this Sunday, May 24, 2026, Daouda Tall, member of the DiomayePrésident coalition, discussed the dismissal of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko which took place on Friday, May 22.
While supporters of the Pastef president speak of betrayal, Mr. Tall, a political leader in Diourbel, firmly rejected the idea of any "betrayal" by the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, towards his former head of government and political leader.
According to Daouda Tall, the head of state did not take this action for reasons of maintaining power. "The president of the Republic is not there to decide that he needs this or that person to stay in power," he stated.
According to him, the accusations that President Faye maneuvered to sideline Ousmane Sonko in order to consolidate his power are unfounded. Daouda Tall called for avoiding alarmist interpretations of a potential institutional crisis.
Asked about the risks of deadlock between the Executive and the National Assembly, he recalled that the Senegalese Constitution provides mechanisms to ensure the continuity of the State.
"The National Assembly must function normally. But if there are blockages, the Constitution provides tools to act in the exclusive interest of the nation," he argued.
Pressed further on these tools, he referred to Article 52 of the Constitution and the powers granted to the Head of State to govern by decree or ordinance in regulatory matters. He also reiterated that the dissolution of the National Assembly is an option provided for by law.
But remaining optimistic, Daouda Tall called on the MPs to prioritize the general interest. "The people are watching them and hope that they will work towards unity and improving the living conditions of Senegalese people," he said.
