Sénégal : « Bassirou Diomaye Faye n’a pas respecté Sonko… », estime Franklin Nyamsi
This is the news that has been making headlines in Senegal since last night. Ousmane Sonko has been dismissed from his position as Prime Minister. This decision, made by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has not gone unnoticed by philosophy professor Franklin Nyamsi.
"What happened yesterday demonstrates the violence that exists between the two men."
In a video posted on his Youtube channel, the activist recalls that he had predicted the explosion of the duo, but regrets the way in which the Pastef leader was thrown out of the government.
“The Diomaye-Sonko partnership has just imploded. I urge you to observe the way Bassirou Diomaye Faye is getting rid of Sonko. According to the customs and protocol of republics, Diomaye Faye should normally have asked Ousmane Sonko to submit his resignation. Sonko would have submitted his resignation, after which Diomaye Faye would have appointed a new Prime Minister. What happened yesterday demonstrates the animosity between the two men,” the Associate Professor of Philosophy stated.
“Sonko wasn’t asked to resign. He was dismissed from his post. Diomaye unilaterally terminated Sonko’s duties. He was at home when he learned he was fired. It’s discourteous, a lack of consideration that the president showed towards his prime minister. Bassirou Diomaye Faye didn’t respect Sonko, yet it was Sonko who gave him power,” laments Franklin Nyamsi.
Mimi Touré in the dock
He now expects Ms. Aminata Touré to be appointed in place of the Pastef leader. “I can already see her becoming Prime Minister, because she’s the president’s favorite. She’s the one who created the rift between the two men, working for Western powers. I see Mimi Touré as Prime Minister, or someone else, but someone who will be part of the Françafrique system,” Mr. Nyamsi stated. He also predicts a schism within Pastef.
“The Pastef party will split in two; a small group will follow Diomaye and the larger group will follow Sonko, who, starting today, is going on the offensive for the Presidency of the Republic. He is a candidate and he will be a candidate against Diomaye Faye,” the activist declared.
A hypothetical third party
He advises the Senegalese president to let his former prime minister participate in these presidential elections and to do everything to guarantee the transparency of the electoral process, because in the event of a post-electoral crisis, the two men could well be ejected from the game by a third party.
