Popenguine 2026 : Les fidèles marchent dans la ferveur
Under a clear sun and in an atmosphere of reverence, thousands of faithful converged on Popenguine for the 138th Marian pilgrimage. Coming from various parts of Senegal, the pilgrims began the traditional march to the holy city with fervor, blending prayers, songs, and fraternal communion.
This edition of the pilgrimage to Our Lady of Deliverance also takes place in a context marked by messages of peace, solidarity and living together, values traditionally associated with this major religious event in Senegal.
Throughout the journey, young people, adults, and the elderly walk to the rhythm of hymns and prayers, bearing witness to their faith and their attachment to this important religious event. Teams from the gendarmerie, medical personnel, and volunteers remain on hand to accompany the walkers and ensure the smooth running of the pilgrimage.
The city also transformed itself for a weekend into a hub for exchange and commerce.
