The Muslim faithful of Matam celebrated Eid al-Adha on May 28, 2026. The two-rak'ah prayer took place at the central crossroads, where Imam Ceerno Mamoudou Abasse Sarr delivered a message full of spirituality, highlighting the importance of this religious festival.

In front of the many faithful, the religious leader reminded them of the need to comply with divine recommendations and obey Allah, while stressing that Tabaski is not limited to ritual, but should also be an opportunity to promote peace and unity.

For the imam, social cohesion is an essential pillar of the stability of the Muslim community and the strengthening of national harmony.

He particularly emphasized the importance of solidarity, which helps to reduce inequalities and support the most disadvantaged through spontaneous acts of mutual aid.

The imam thus encouraged the people to cultivate living together, a fundamental principle for building a strong and prosperous society.

Governor Said Dia, accompanied by the mayor of Matam and several administrative authorities, praised the preacher's inspiring words, describing them as fundamental to guaranteeing stability and promoting development.

According to the head of the regional executive, "the calls for solidarity, national unity and social cohesion made by religious leaders are crucial to strengthening ties between communities and promoting a climate of understanding."

He also expressed his prayers to the Almighty that the nation remain united and that peace reign in hearts. Through this initiative, he reiterated his commitment to governance underpinned by values of solidarity and spirituality, essential for progress together.

In conclusion, the governor expressed his wishes for the success of the new government and requested collective prayers for the state authorities.
