Touba : Mbaye Dione interpelle l'État sur les inondations et le respect des chefs religieux
The Secretary General of the Alliance of Progressive Forces (AFP), MP and Mayor of Ngoundiane, Mbaye Dione, yesterday made an official visit to the holy city of Touba where he was received by the General Caliph of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, as well as by his spokesperson Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Abdou Khadr.
At the head of a large AFP delegation including Ms. Ndèye Maguette Lo, Mayors Alassane Mbaye and Ibrahima Ndiaye, and Moustapha Sylla, Mbaye Dione traveled to Touba ahead of the Grand Magal. This visit is part of the privileged relationship between the AFP and the Mouride brotherhood, as party president Moustapha Niass is himself a disciple of the General Caliph.
"We had the opportunity to meet the holy man, the General Caliph of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha. We pray that God will keep him in the hands of the Muslim community for a long time to come, because his life is a joy for Senegal and for all Muslims," said Mbaye Dione.
A cry of alarm in the face of floods
The parliamentarian took advantage of this platform to raise awareness about the situation facing the people of Touba in the face of flooding. "These floods do not stop only around the great mosque, even in the outlying districts, many populations are flooded," he lamented.
Mbaye Dione, a resident of Touba, describes the daily difficulties faced by residents: access to drinking water, rainwater drainage, and meal preparation. "This is truly a cry from the heart that I am making," he insisted, recalling that the holy city overwhelmingly voted for the current regime.
A solemn appeal to the authorities
Faced with this emergency situation, the AFP Secretary-General issued a solemn appeal to the authorities to implement social assistance programs for vulnerable populations. "The rainy season came very late. Today, many Senegalese have lost their jobs, many have lost hope," he stressed, calling for rapid state intervention.
Protection of religious leaders: a national stability issue
Beyond social concerns, Mbaye Dione also addressed the issue of respect for religious leaders, whom he considers "the foundations of the country's stability." He recalled Senegal's unique characteristics: a country without civil war or coup d'état, where Islamic-Christian dialogue and joking friendships reign.
"The Senegalese government must protect these families, these religious leaders," he insisted, denouncing the "insulting remarks" and "insane things" directed at religious families on social media. He called on all political leaders to ensure that their activists do not fall into such excesses.
"Respecting religious leaders means providing them with assistance, but it also means avoiding spreading insanities on social media," the elected official concluded, recalling that the State is the guarantor of national stability and respect for religious brotherhoods.

Celui qui avait brûlé, et que Firaouna Sall et Moustapha Niass faisaient chanter pour cela depuis 12 ans, nous parle de protection des guides religieux.
Boy Serere tais toi.
