Gossas : la gendarmerie intensifie la lutte contre l’insécurité nocturne et les infractions routières
On the night of Wednesday 3 to Thursday 4 September 2025, the territorial gendarmerie brigade of Gossas, supported by a platoon of the Surveillance and Intervention Squadron (ESI) of Mbar, carried out a vast security and sanitation operation on the axes linking the communes of Gossas, Ndiéné Lagane and Ouadiour.
The operation, conducted between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., was primarily aimed at combating the night-time circulation of carters without reflectors or phosphorescent vests, which are frequent sources of accidents and unsafety on the roads.
At the end of the checks, the results were deemed satisfactory: 30 motorcycles were checked, 12 of which were immobilized for failure to present documents relating to their driving; 7 carts were inspected, with 1 immobilized for lack of a reflector; 40 people were checked, 17 of whom were arrested for failure to present identity documents; 10 vehicles were also subjected to a check, without any immobilization being necessary.
Furthermore, a total of 5 offences were noted, resulting in a fixed fine of 15,000 CFA francs.
According to gendarmerie officials, no incidents were reported during this operation, which is part of a global strategy of road safety prevention and community security.
Local authorities welcome this initiative, which they consider an important step towards reducing risky behavior and improving safety in the Gossas department.
