Police : Sortie de la 49e promotion, 261 nouveaux agents sur le terrain
“Loyalty, exemplary conduct and humanity.” These values were placed at the heart of the mission of the new Senegalese police officers by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhamadou Bamba Cissé, during the graduation of the 49th class of the National Police, this Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Directorate of Training of the National Police in Dakar.
The ceremony, presided over by the Inspector General of Police and Director General of the National Police, Mame Seydou Ndour, marked the entry into service of 261 personnel trained in 2023. The graduating class includes 27 commissioners (two of whom are women), 73 officers (nine of whom are women), and 160 non-commissioned officers (30 of whom are women). Seven trainees from Gabon also exemplify sub-regional cooperation in police training.
The event, marked by a ceremony and the presentation of epaulettes, officially marked the end of training and the entry into service of the recipients.
The key message of his address was: "to serve with loyalty." Mr. Cissé reminded everyone that "wearing the uniform is not a privilege, but a heavy responsibility." He emphasized a police force founded on loyalty, exemplary conduct, and humanity, calling on the new recruits to combine firmness, respect for the law, and empathy in the performance of their duties.
The Director of Training and the National Police Academy, Sanou Diouf, praised the achievements of this graduating class, marked by particularly high physical, intellectual, and moral demands. She noted that the training emphasized both technical skills and interpersonal qualities, essential to the profession of police officer. Addressing the graduates, she encouraged them to draw inspiration from the class's patron, Divisional Commissioner Baba Yaradou, emphasizing that: "This graduation marks not only the end of their training, but also the beginning of a commitment to serving the nation."
A new generation of police officers is thus joining the active ranks, guided by discipline, integrity and a sense of public service, in a context where security expectations remain high.
