1875- 2025: l'Eglise catholique de Sédhiou fête ses 150 ans
On December 26, 27 and 28, 2025, the parish of Saint John of Sédhiou celebrates its 150th anniversary of priesthood. A century and a half during which it has served humanity, transforming its spiritual life, and also alongside the State, providing its expertise in several fields.
For the priest, Abbé Thierry Sagna, the Church is on the side of the State through Catholic private education, through Caritas, but also through youth movements that participate in the education and training of young people.
That is why, he said, in images and words during the 72 hours devoted to the jubilee, the Church will showcase a good part of its activities and flagship achievements for the benefit of the people.
According to the man of God, this will be a great opportunity to reconcile the faithful with themselves, to reconcile them with God and to pay a vibrant tribute to the pioneers.
These 72 hours will allow, the priest continues, to see how the Church has impacted the lives of the people since the opening of the parish in 1875 to the present day.
