2 milliards F CFA en billets noirs saisis à Rufisque : Cinq trafiquants, dont un homme âgé, arrêtés par la BR de Keur Massar
A major operation was carried out by the research brigade (BR) of the Keur Massar company as part of the fight against economic and financial crime. Five individuals, including a man in his seventies, were arrested in Rufisque in connection with a case involving counterfeit banknotes with an estimated value of two billion CFA francs.
According to information provided to Seneweb by Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, head of the Communication and Public Relations Division, the operation carried out on March 2, 2026, followed the exploitation of precise intelligence.
Investigators were thus able to establish the involvement of a man over 70 years old, presented as an active member of the network, who planned to launder black money shipped to Senegal from Gambia.
The investigation led the police to a building under construction in the TAco district of Rufisque. It was there that the 70-year-old man was arrested in the act, along with three of his accomplices.
They were taken to the police station for questioning. The seized items include a large quantity of counterfeit banknotes with a face value estimated at two billion CFA francs.
The suspects will have to answer for charges related to the possession and attempted laundering of counterfeit currency, a practice falling under the categories of fraud and financial crime. Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, has been informed of the facts.
