A few days before the Independence Day celebrations, the governor of Thiès, Saër Ndao, addressed the press to provide an update on the preparations. He expressed confidence in the success of this major national event planned for this year in the railway capital.

"The Independence Day celebration will be a success," he assured, highlighting the competence of the teams involved and the enthusiasm of the local population.

According to him, the region has a high-quality human capital, supported by strong civic engagement. Administrative authorities, as well as local elected officials, particularly mayors, are fully committed to the organization.

Regarding the parade, the governor indicated that it was initially planned with the participation of 28 civilian organizations. However, he emphasized that adjustments had been made. "The number of participants has been reduced to better manage the timing of the parade. This measure will limit its duration to a maximum of three hours," he explained.

Furthermore, Saër Ndao asserted that Thiès possesses significant logistical advantages. He stated that Avenue Caen, considered a unique site, is the only space outside of Dakar capable of hosting a national parade.

Regarding accommodation, there are no concerns to report. The governor reassured everyone about the region's capacity, indicating that the cities of Mbour and Tivaouane will bolster the existing infrastructure in Thiès.
