66 cartons de faux médicaments saisis et 4 arrestations : la police démantèle un réseau chinois au boulevard Centenaire

The National Police Brigade for the Fight against Piracy and Counterfeiting (BNPLC) made a major seizure of counterfeit medicines this Tuesday on Boulevard Centenaire in Dakar. Four people were arrested as part of this operation.

On October 1, 2025, following the exploitation of information reporting a cosmetics store active in the sale of counterfeit medicines, BNPLC police carried out a check operation on Boulevard Centenaire.

Inside the store, they discovered a large batch of counterfeit medicines consisting of sixty-six (66) boxes of fake medicines made up of forty (40) species divided into nine (09) therapeutic classes according to Seneweb sources.

Drugs dangerous to public health

The seized products include anticancer drugs, antihemorrhoidal drugs, antiparasitic drugs, antihypertensive drugs, anti-inflammatories, prostate and malaria drugs, anabolic steroids and dietary supplements.

Two Chinese managers and their employees arrested

The two Chinese nationals were arrested. They are D. Julian, born in 1975, a trader living in Gibraltar, and C. Yunchun, born in 1971, a trader also living in Gibraltar.

Two Senegalese employees were also arrested: FMBa, born on November 5, 1999, who presented herself as a commercial employee and lived in Medina, and Mr. Yadé, born on August 4, 1997, who claimed to be a commercial employee and lived in Liberté 6.

Heavy accusations

The four accused are being prosecuted for illegally carrying out an activity subject to authorization, illegally practicing pharmacy, endangering the lives of others, and possession and sale of counterfeit medicines.

The Public Prosecutor has been informed of the facts and an investigation is underway.

This operation is part of the fight against counterfeiting and demonstrates the determination of senior police authorities to protect public health against the scourge of counterfeit medicines, which constitutes a mortal danger for the population.
