70 millions de FCFA pour libérer deux Chinois arrêtés à Saraya: comment la police a déjoué la tentative de corruption

A meticulously planned operation by police in the Moussala border sector led to the dismantling of an illegal gold mining network in the village of Satadougou, on the Senegalese-Malian border. A total of four people were arrested and 70 million CFA francs were seized, according to Seneweb sources.

It all started with information reporting repeated illegal entries of foreigners, particularly Malians and Chinese, into Senegalese territory, specifically into the village of Satadougou, where they were fraudulently engaging in gold mining and exploration activities.

Based on this information, agents M. Diouf and M. Diouf, serving at the Guémédjié outpost and handpicked for this mission, decided to strike hard.

To avoid being spotted by the network of accomplices of the illegal gold miners operating in the area, the police had to walk more than five kilometers along trails through the forest before reaching the site. Their discretion paid off: they managed to catch the workers red-handed in the act of illegal gold mining.

Two Chinese nationals were immediately arrested, while their Malian accomplices fled into Malian territory.

The two Chinese men arrested presented themselves as gold miners. They are Liang D. Wei, born in 1986 in Gangxi and residing in Kéniéba in Mali, and Liang Wei, born in 1978 in Guangxi and residing in Badala.

A corruption network dismantled

The case does not end there. Thanks to their intelligence network, the police learned that two Malian nationals had been mandated by the head of the Chinese, based in Mali, to negotiate the release of the detainees in exchange for the sum of seventy million CFA francs.

An appointment was immediately arranged for them at the headquarters of the Guémédjié outpost. Upon their arrival, they were immediately arrested and the aforementioned sum seized and sealed.

The two Malians apprehended are Abdoulaye Sow, born in 1972 in Kéniéba, a trader, and Mouhamed Tamboura, born in 1998 in Mopti, also a trader, both residing in Kéniéba.

The operation, which finally ended at 2 a.m., resulted in a significant outcome: four people arrested, including two Chinese and two Malians, a sum of seventy million CFA francs seized and sealed, and two mechanical excavators immobilized at the advanced control post of Guémédjié.

All those arrested were notified of their right to be assisted by counsel of their choice from among lawyers duly registered with the bar.

They have been referred to the public prosecutor at the Saraya District Court for the purpose of assessment.
