Following reports in some media and on social networks concerning an "alleged scandal within the boarding school of the Omarian mosque", the management of the Cheikhou Oumar Foutiyou Tall Institute wished to provide a number of clarifications.
She clarifies that, "contrary to certain allegations circulating, no staff member of the institution is accused or involved in acts of pedophilia or unnatural acts. These claims are unfounded at this stage of the proceedings and are not based on any established evidence."
"The events mentioned date back to 2022 and concern an incident involving exclusively minor children among themselves," recalls the management of the Cheikhou Oumar Foutiyou Tall Institute, which also considers it important to specify that "three of the children concerned have formally denied the facts as reported."
She continued: “To date, an investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.” The Institute reaffirms its full cooperation with the relevant authorities to shed light on this situation. “As soon as the facts were established, internal disciplinary measures were taken to address any potential negligence in supervision, in accordance with the institution's rules and with a focus on accountability,” the management emphasized.
Furthermore, she adds, "corrective and preventive measures have been put in place since 2022, including the installation of surveillance cameras throughout the premises of the establishment, in order to strengthen the security, vigilance and protection of students."
The administration wishes to reassure all parents: "This event remains an isolated incident, which in no way calls into question the educational, moral, and religious values that underpin the Institute's work." The Cheikhou Oumar Foutiyou Tall Institute states that it is deeply committed to the "protection, education, and well-being of the children" entrusted to its care, and has promised to continue strengthening its support and prevention measures.
Finally, the management of the Cheikhou Oumar Foutiyou Tall Institute calls for restraint and responsibility in the dissemination of sensitive information, in order to preserve the dignity of the children concerned and the integrity of the institution.
