Mbacké stadium roof collapses due to storm: 11 people injured and significant material damage recorded

A violent storm hit the city of Mbacké this Friday, causing significant material damage and injuring several people. The El Hadji Ibrahima Guèye stadium was particularly hard hit, notably during a football match, when part of the roof collapsed under the force of the powerful winds.

According to Amadou Mbodji, communications officer for the Mbacké ODCAV, at least 17 people were injured. Some of them are in serious condition. The victims were quickly treated by firefighters and then evacuated to several health centers in the region, including the Mbacké health center, the Diamaguène health post, and the Matlaboul Fawzeyni hospital in Touba.

"Fortunately, no human lives were lost," the same source said. However, the material damage was significant: several vehicles and motorcycles parked near the stadium were damaged by debris.

In response to the incident, the mayor of Mbacké, Gallo Ba, visited the scene accompanied by his deputy, Mor Anne Guèye, and Moustapha Dieng, stadium director and president of the ORCAV of Diourbel. All expressed their support for the victims.

Il faut arrêter l'entrepreneur. Je ne serai pas étonné qu'il soit marabout. Ils gagnent beaucoup de marchés de construction.
