Ambassade de l’Inde au Sénégal : trois restaurateurs condamnés, ils ont servi une boisson « dopée »
During the Indian National Day celebrations organized by the embassy in Senegal last March, a mother and her seven-year-old son consumed a traditional Indian drink that contained a cannabis-derived substance. Feeling unwell, the woman underwent medical tests that confirmed the presence of this substance, and then filed a complaint against three Indian restaurateurs: Vkas Chandraprakash Choithram-pani, Pawan Artani, and Trus Feruy, reports Les Échos.
Tried this Monday at the Dakar flagrante delicto court, the same source reported, the three men denied knowingly adding drugs to the drink, while confirming that they served it to several hundred guests. The prosecution had requested three months in prison and a fine, accusing the defendants of not informing the guests of the drink's ingredients.
At the end of the trial, the newspaper adds, the three restaurateurs were acquitted of the charge of "adding drugs." However, they were found guilty of endangering the lives of others and administering a substance harmful to health. They were sentenced to two months in prison, suspended, and fined 500,000 CFA francs each.
