Assassinat d'Oumar Lamine Badji : 19 ans après, sa famille réclame toujours justice
"Here we are, 19 years to the day, after the tragic death of the former president of the Ziguinchor Regional Council, Oumar Lamine Badji, assassinated on Saturday, December 30, 2006 in Sindian Éramba, at his home," wrote Seydou Badji, brother of the deceased and coordinator of the anniversary of the assassination of Oumar Lamine Badji.
To honor his memory and to combat oblivion, the committee in charge of organizing the anniversary of the assassination of Oumar Lamine Badji organized a Quran reading at the home of the deceased in Sindian Éramba.
The family and the committee have once again demanded justice from the Minister of Justice Yassine Fall and the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Ziguinchor.
"The family and the committee are appealing to the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General at the Ziguinchor court to do everything possible to ensure that Alain Alassana Diédhiou is arrested and questioned," it reads.
The latter is considered the main murderer of the former president of the Ziguinchor departmental council, according to the family of the late Oumar Lamine Badji.
Seydou Badji recounts the facts: "The court delivered its verdict at the Ziguinchor Assizes on Monday, January 26, 2015. Nine alleged perpetrators were tried, five of whom were found guilty and four acquitted due to insufficient evidence. The family and the OLB committee are baffled, as the three individuals tried in absentia—Alassana Diédhiou, Yankoba Diassobolok Sané, and Ismaïla Ampa Diédhiou—are not being prosecuted, even though the first three returned of their own accord in 2021 (Yankoba Diassobolok Sané died at home without being arrested). As for Alassana Diédhiou, there has been no arrest since his return in September 2024."
The brother of the late Oumar Lamine Badji, however, praised the courage of the MP for Bignona in asking Minister Yassine Fall, during the examination of her department's budget, to do something for the children, widows, brothers and sisters of Oumar Lamine Badji.
