Avenue Bourguiba : 3 arrestations dont une étudiante, 5,4 millions F CFA et du protoxyde d'azote saisis par la police
A nighttime operation conducted by police officers from the Grand Dakar district police station on Bourguiba Avenue resulted in the arrest of three people in possession of nitrous oxide and a large sum of cash. Among those charged was a student.
On the night of October 4-5, 2025, a targeted security operation conducted by police officers from the Grand Dakar district police station on Bourguiba Avenue resulted in a spectacular seizure. Three people were arrested and taken into custody for possession of psychotropic substances.
A check that turns into an arrest
Acting on information that Bourguiba Avenue had become a nighttime gathering place for young people in private vehicles, police officers set up a strategic checkpoint near the Demba Diop stadium at around 1 a.m.
After a few minutes of surveillance, the police spotted a vehicle speeding towards them. Ordered to stop, the driver complied. It was a Mercedes Benz with tinted windows, and there were three occupants inside: a man at the wheel and two women dressed in evening wear.
A damning discovery
A systematic search of the vehicle allowed the police to seize a plastic bag containing three canisters of nitrous oxide and fifteen balloons, equipment typically used for consuming this euphoric gas.
But the surprise was even greater: a colossal sum of 5,400,000 CFA francs was hidden in the vehicle.
The three occupants were immediately taken to the police station. They are AKSène, 28, a vehicle salesman living in the Damel estate, D.Guèye, 25, a student living in Colobane, and MNHCamara, 33, an accountant living in the Mourtada estate.
Confessions but a phantom supplier
Placed in a hearing, the three accused all admitted the facts. They told investigators that they had purchased the nitrous oxide from a supplier based in Ouagou Niayes. The problem: they claim to only know his phone number, which considerably complicates investigations into the supply chain.
Regarding the large sum of money discovered in the vehicle, AKSène, who was driving, provided a rather surprising explanation: according to him, this money belonged to a certain Mr. Diagne, owner of the Mercedes Benz.
The three suspects were taken into custody for possession of psychotropic substances according to Seneweb sources.
The Public Prosecutor has been informed of this matter and a thorough investigation has been opened.
