Berger tué par balle à Sédhiou : Ce que l'on sait de l'enquête
The Sédhiou region was plunged into sadness and consternation this Saturday, October 4, 2025, following the discovery of the lifeless body of a shepherd in the village of Tognataba, commune of Baghère.

The Tanaff Gendarmerie Brigade was alerted to the gruesome discovery around 9 a.m. The victim, identified as D. Ba, was found dead among his herd of cattle, according to Seneweb sources.
The 56-year-old shepherd, who had three wives and 22 children, was known for his daily routine. Every evening around 6 p.m., he would go to the forest to check on and monitor his oxen, staying there until around midnight before returning home.
The circumstances of the tragedy
On the night of Friday, October 3rd, to Saturday, October 4th, D. Ba did not return home as usual. His phone rang off the hook, worrying his family. It was only in the morning that one of his children, who had come to herd, made the tragic discovery.
The findings made by the gendarmes, in the presence of the Head Nurse of the Baghère Station (ICP), revealed:

A gunshot wound to the stomach, a second wound to the right rear flank, a 12mm caliber shotgun belonging to the victim, found three meters from the body, seven reload cartridges and two unfired cartridges inside the rifle according to Seneweb sources.
A thorough search of the immediate area did not reveal any further evidence that could shed light on the circumstances.

Initial investigations suggest a possible attempted cattle theft that went wrong. However, according to the deceased's family, no cattle are "missing," and the herd is complete, raising questions about the exact motive for this tragedy.
D.Ba's lifeless body was taken to Kolda Regional Hospital for autopsy.
