Bignona-Ziguinchor : Le ministre Cheikh Tidiane DIEYE relève la pertinence des ouvrages de stabilisation des ravins
The Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane DIEYE, welcomed the stabilization and security work carried out by the Military Engineering Department on the Tenghory Bignona Canal, which crosses the Alwar, Kandialang, and Djibock neighborhoods in the commune of Ziguinchor. This work is being carried out under the leadership of the Directorate for Flood Prevention and Management (DGPI). The Minister and his delegation took the opportunity to tour the Ziguinchor wastewater treatment plant.
According to Cheikh Tidiane Dieye, this work has allowed the population to experience less difficulties during this winter, which is still ongoing. Houses threatened with collapse around these open-air canals, especially in Tenghory, have been made safe thanks to the work of military engineers, according to the minister, in addition to ensuring the mobility and circulation of people.
Regarding the Ziguinchor wastewater treatment plant, Cheikh Tidiane Dieye said he observed constraints in the implementation of this important sanitation project for the region. These constraints will be lifted so that the project can resume and avoid further delays. The sanitation difficulties faced by the region's population, particularly the municipality, must imperatively end with this wastewater treatment plant. It is urgent to find solutions in this area of sanitation for the city of Ziguinchor, said the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Dieye.
