[Billet] Quand le ballon recolle les morceaux...
In Senegal, there are rare things: a bus that arrives on time, a politician who keeps his word... and a truly united nation. Fortunately, the Lions of Teranga know how to deliver this miracle in 90 minutes flat. Yesterday in Kinshasa, they succeeded where religious sermons, dialogues, and conferences have failed for 60 years: making 18 million hearts beat in unison.
While our politicians bickered like elementary school students over a punctured ball, the Lions reminded everyone that, yes, national unity exists. At least... as long as there's a game. Afterward, everyone returns to their own camp: the opposition, the government, or the tontine WhatsApp group.
And then there was the infamous presidential phone call. Some saw it as a patriotic gesture, others as a PR stunt. But frankly, if calling the team can bring victory, why not give them an unlimited call? Telecommunications operators should even launch a special package: "Patriotic phone call – unlimited to Aliou Cissé."
Ultimately, football is the only dialogue table that works for us. No need for national conferences, no commissions, no endless conclaves: a ball, eleven players, and hey presto, an entire nation sings the anthem as if the price of fuel had just been raised to zero francs.
As long as the lions roar, Senegal breathes. As soon as they fall silent... we fall back into the usual din: politicians at war with microphones and influencers at war with filters.
