Casamance : L'impact pédagogique du rituel de circoncision sur le parcours des élèves en période scolaire
In Casamance, initiation rites such as circumcision remain major cultural moments, traditionally marking the passage to adulthood and the transmission of knowledge. However, in Sédhiou, holding these ceremonies at the beginning of the school year poses serious problems of interference with educational activities, particularly for young students.
Prolonged absences and temporary dropout
Participation in the sacred wood or the time of convalescence and isolation following the operation results in a prolonged absence of students, which can last several weeks depending on traditions and communities.
This interruption has significant educational consequences. Initiated students return to class with a considerable academic delay in core subjects. Catching up on missed classes becomes a major challenge, especially since their new status as "initiated" can sometimes distract them from purely academic requirements.
Faced with this problem, the article highlights a note of hope: education authorities are demonstrating increased flexibility and constant consultation with communities in an attempt to minimize disruptions in students' education. The challenge is to reconcile respect for cultural traditions with the need to ensure continuity of education.

Il est évident que c'est en période de grandes vacances que cela devrait se faire et non, non. non en période de Cycle scolaire
