Célébration du 8 mars : la Première dame Absa Faye célèbre les femmes en situation de handicap de Ziguinchor

In the lead-up to the celebration of International Women's Day, the First Lady, Absa Faye, made a gesture of solidarity towards people with disabilities in the Ziguinchor region, particularly women.

On Friday, March 6, she distributed equipment to improve the mobility and living conditions of these individuals. Wheelchairs, walking sticks for the visually impaired, crutches, sunscreen for people with albinism, and other useful equipment were given to members of the Ziguinchor regional association for people living with disabilities.

The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Union of Associations of Disabled Persons of the Ziguinchor region, in the presence of several actors committed to promoting the rights of people living with disabilities.

In her speech, the First Lady particularly highlighted the situation of women with disabilities, praising their courage and commitment to society.

"I met courageous, supportive and committed women who turn challenges into strength and adversity into determination," said the First Lady.

Absa Faye also encouraged these women to believe in their abilities and to remain in control of their life choices. According to her, their disability should in no way hinder their personal development and civic contribution.

"Disability does not limit the dignity, ambition, or ability of women to contribute to the development of society," she said.

On the eve of International Women's Day, celebrated tomorrow, March 8, the First Lady emphasized the importance, for her, of standing alongside these women and offering them concrete support. This gesture of solidarity, she indicated, aligns with the vision of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, aimed at strengthening support for vulnerable people and building a more inclusive Senegal.

The First Lady explained that the goal is to enable every citizen, regardless of their circumstances, to participate fully in the economic, social and cultural life of the country.

In the Ziguinchor region, International Women's Day is celebrated every year through various activities organized by women's associations. By choosing this symbolic moment to show her support for people with disabilities, the First Lady reaffirms the authorities' commitment to placing the most vulnerable populations at the heart of public policy.
