"C'est lâche et ignoble" : Les bulldozers rasent le champ des "Diallo pithie", la CDC et Fadilou Keita critiqués
The land dispute between the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC), headed by Fadilou Keita, and the family of the late businessman Diallo Pithie has taken a new turn. CDC bulldozers invaded the Diallo family's farm in Bambilor to raze all the plants.
Last week, the site's caretaker was evicted from the premises, and a press conference by the family, accusing the CDC of forcibly taking their land, was interrupted by the police.
Recently, a video posted by Cheikh Fall Guéye, a member of the Dakar 2026 YOG organizing committee, sparked anger among Senegalese people. In the video, a bulldozer completely razes the Diallo family's fields filled with plants, as their descendants look on helplessly.
"In Bambilor, the land dispute between Keïta Fadilou's Caisse des dépôts et consignations (CDC) and the Diallo Pitch family once again highlights the brutal face of land management in Senegal. Behind the technical terms expropriation, eviction, and litigation lies a harsher reality: that of a family deprived of its land, its efforts, its harvest... sometimes in a single morning (...) Was it really necessary to send bulldozers before the harvest?
"Was it necessary, in the name of legality, to sacrifice the dignity and patience of a family that cultivated, maintained and brought this land to life? Between legality and legitimacy, the State has once again chosen force to the detriment of common sense," regrets Cheikh Fatou Guéye.
Khalifa Ababacar Gaye, a professor and journalist, also condemned this action by Fadilou Keita's CDC. "My peasant blood can only denounce this cruelty in the face of this culture destroyed in two shakes of a lamb's tail. Regardless of the dispute, we had to wait for the harvest. This is humanizing justice and the law," he wrote.
"By the way, what's lacking in this country is empathy, knowing how to put yourself in someone else's shoes, even if it's just for a moment. This act is cowardly and despicable. At least wait until they harvest their crops, damn it! Imagine for a single moment if they had been funded?" Adja Mbeya fumed on Facebook.
