"Malal Talla is not crazy, he is just sick with indignity." This remark came from those close to the former mayor of Thiès, Talla Sylla. For them, "by tackling the Talla Sylla affair with a smirk, Malal Talla has not only disappointed those who saw him as a vestige of the Y'en a marre movement; he has revealed the illness that is eating away at him today: moral amnesia coupled with cruel indifference."
They add: "Let us refresh the memory of this misguided activist. This October 5, which he speaks of so casually, is not an anecdote. It is the visible and permanent scar on a man's body. To doubt the reality of this assassination attempt is to spit on the after-effects that Talla Sylla still bears in his flesh, 22 years later. It is to insult the remarkable work of the investigators of the National Gendarmerie who exposed the facts. It is, finally, a second aggression, moral this time, as cowardly as the first was brutal."
Sakhir Sarr, speaking on behalf of Talla Sylla's relatives, believes that "the most pathetic thing about this outing is not the madness, because Malal is not mad. It's his illness."
"A sickness of the soul," he says, "which makes him forget that the man he mocks has committed an act that few would be capable of contemplating. In 2013, Talla Sylla not only turned the page. Guided by the teachings of his spiritual guide, Cheikhoul Khadim, he publicly tore it up by granting forgiveness to his attackers and their sponsors."
The entourage of the former mayor of Thiès always recalls: "and the greatness of this man does not stop there. Finally, the president of Jëf-Jël informs: ""Fou Malade" is aptly named. Not because he is mad, but because he is terribly ill from having lost what constitutes the very essence of a man of principle: respect for the truth and compassion for suffering. We can only pity him and pray for his recovery."

Toujours selon Talla Sylla, le président Bassirou Diomaye Faye aurait été confronté à cette éventualité, mais il aurait reçu de sa part un conseil ferme : ne pas accepter une telle démission.
