Cheikh Tidiane Dièye : «Nous allons transformer les défis en opportunités»
This Friday, the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Dièye, unveiled the prospects for flood management in Senegal. From the outset, he highlighted the strengthening of the territorial network of meteorological and hydrological equipment (radars, automatic stations) and the sustainability of the alert and communication system based on technology and citizen participation.
Still on future directions, he reassured on the completion of major structuring projects (Touba, Tivaouane, Kaolack, Rufisque) as well as on the Permanent Maintenance Plan for drainage and pumping works.
Also, Cheikh Tidiane Dièye announced the integration of the altitude parameter (Z) in all subdivision and building permit operations to prevent construction in low-lying areas.
"Senegal is moving from a logic of reaction to a logic of anticipation and climate resilience is becoming a pillar of public policy," he said during the Senegalese government's press conference, "Káddu", at the Dakar Administrative Building.
Before continuing: "We will turn challenges into opportunities. We have nature-based projects. With the Sine Valley, we can create artificial lakes. And still with Touba and Tivaouane, fishing and livestock activities are being considered with winter drainage operations."
The Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, in charge of Relations with Institutions, government spokesperson, Marie Rose Khady Fatou Faye, the Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy and other personalities took part in this meeting.

Ce débat n’a plus lieu d’être depuis longtemps. Encore un article commandité pour répondre à la pétition « Sonko dégage » et tenter de minimiser le manque de respect de Sonko envers les deux chefs d’État lors du forum sur les investissements.
Les dés sont déjà jetés : selon la Constitution sénégalaise, le Premier ministre est nommé par décret et ne dispose d’aucune légitimité électorale. C’est Diomaye qui détient le suffrage des Sénégalais, pas Sonko, dont l’attitude reste arrogante et condescendante.
Tout porte à croire qu’il cherche à saboter le mandat de Diomaye. La preuve : chaque fois que des avancées sont réalisées dans les négociations avec le FMI, il sort de son silence pour tout compromettre. Or, le FMI est une institution soucieuse de son image et de sa crédibilité, et ce n’est pas sans raison que de nombreuses entreprises dépensent des millions en communication pour entretenir leur réputation.
