Senegal Railways: A security guard complicit in the theft of 13 rails

The Bel Air district police station arrested A. Faye and A. Ba in the act of committing theft as a group at night using a wheelbarrow. A third suspect, a guard at the Senegalese Railways depot, is also wanted.

According to the investigation unit, during a night patrol around 3 a.m., police officers encountered the suspects near the Senegalese Railways depot. They were dragging a cart containing 13 train tracks.

When questioned about the origin of this suspicious merchandise, A. Faye and A. Ba explained that they had bought it from a man named Boy, without providing further details, at the aforementioned warehouse. They gave his phone number to the police.

Having doubts about their statements, the investigators took the two suspects to the police station for identity verification and thorough questioning.

The following day, the suspects were questioned. They cooperated, revealing that they had acted in collusion with the site's caretaker, named Boy.

According to their confession, it was this guard who gave them the rails to sell, demanding a rebate of 40,000 CFA francs.

After checking with the manager of the Senegalese Railways depot, he told investigators that the guard in question was identified as A. Fall. He specified that he was currently at the depot, sleeping. A mission was given to the BR (Brigade de Recherches - Research Brigade) to apprehend him.

The two accused, A. Faye and A. Ba, were taken into custody for robbery committed at night with the use of a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing to establish the extent of this trafficking and to determine if other people are involved in this railway equipment theft network.

Beaucoup de vols commis dans des maisons ou des entreprises le sont avec la complicité des vigiles.

Senegal mome est devenu pays de voleurs depuis un an. On y vole tout : dans les maisons, dans les entreprises, dans les services publics, même dans les fermes agricoles (vol de betail) et les champs de cacahuètes. Si on te vole pas, on n'a pas l'occasion de te voler. CQFD

Au Senegal le gardien a le plus bas salaire. Leur revenu peut s'épuiser en moins d'une semaine et ils font la garde d'un équipement d'une valeur de millions. Excusez mon français familier qui n'est pas loin de celui du journaliste
