Colère des ferrailleurs à Thiès : ils réclament l'exportation et le respect des engagements

Scrap metal dealers from across Senegal have gathered in Thiès for a peaceful national march, scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This demonstration will start at the military base and end at the Promenade des Thiéssois (formerly Place de France), followed by a sit-in planned for Place de France from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Lamine Diack, president of the Thiès scrap metal cooperative and representative of Senegalese scrap metal dealers, discussed the objectives of this march. The platform of demands is structured around four major points: the refusal of the implementation of the circular letter of September 29, 2025 by manufacturers; the total opening of the export of ferrous and non-ferrous products; the suspension of the import of iron billets by manufacturers; the full payment of vouchers from September 29, 2025 as stipulated in the circular letter.

Senegal's scrap metal dealers are committed to respecting safety and traffic regulations, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the event.
