During this blessed month of Ramadan, international solidarity was evident in the heart of the holy city of Touba. On March 12, 2026, a large-scale charitable iftar was organized to support local Quranic schools. This initiative was the result of a collaboration between the Senegalese association AVISE Sénégal and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Senegal.

The event primarily targeted children from low-income families, often away from home to dedicate themselves to religious studies. In total, 250 students (Ndongo Daara) and their teachers from five different schools benefited from this initiative.

Nutritional and spiritual support

In a context where the study of the Quran demands rigorous discipline, the organizers emphasized the importance of quality nutrition: "During Ramadan, nutritious meals are particularly important for them," the statement explained. During the ceremony, hot meals, dates, and various other foods were distributed amidst a spirit of devotion.

The choice of Touba for this action is not accidental. The religious city is described as "one of the most important spiritual centers in Senegal", playing a "major role in the dissemination of religious knowledge in the country".

Strengthening diplomatic and humanitarian ties

Beyond its charitable aspect, this day aimed to celebrate brotherhood between peoples. According to the organizers, the main objective was to "promote the values of solidarity, mercy, and mutual support during the month of Ramadan."

This operation also marks a milestone in bilateral relations between the two countries, aiming to "strengthen humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Senegal." Beyond the shared meal, this gesture reflects a long-term commitment to diplomatic rapprochement through social action.
