Coups et blessures sur son épouse : Un enseignant condamné après une violente dispute... pour un robinet
The Thiès court ruled this Monday on a domestic violence case involving a teacher, identified as Mr. Mbaye. He was being prosecuted for assault and battery against his wife, NM Ndiaye.
According to the complainant's statements, the incident occurred following an argument over the use of the family tap. She explained that she had wanted to do laundry that day, but her husband prevented her from doing so by locking the tap and hiding the key in his cupboard.
While trying to retrieve the key to access the water, the woman claims she was violently prevented by her husband. When she persisted, he allegedly beat her, causing an injury. The victim, who provided a medical certificate, subsequently filed a complaint.
In court, the defendant contested the charges, denying any violence against his wife. However, she remained consistent in her accusations, maintaining that she had been attacked simply for wanting to use the tap.
The public prosecutor requested the application of the law. After examining the facts, the court found Mr. Mbaye guilty of intentional assault and battery and sentenced him to a suspended fine of 20,000 FCFA.
