DAKAR : Deux faux policiers interpellés par la police
On November 11, 2025, the police station of Unit 15 in the Parcelles-Assainies district arrested two individuals for impersonating police officers and extortion. They were posing as police officers at the BCEAO recreation center. Their victims reported being detained, handcuffed, and extorted from 20,000 to 500,000 CFA francs.
Having been informed, the police officers from the station made an initial, unsuccessful trip to the indicated location. The suspects had taken refuge on the VDN 3 highway, near the Pikine-Guédiawaye courthouse. When they sensed the police presence, they attempted to flee. The driver crashed into a utility pole and was apprehended for not having a driver's license. His accomplice was also arrested, while the third man managed to escape.
The search of the vehicle allowed the detectives to discover a Lenovo tablet, two national identity cards, a firefighter's uniform, a beret, a fake pistol, a pair of handcuffs and a close protection officer card.
The suspects, who posed as police officers working in the vice squad at the central police station, confessed to the crimes. They are being prosecuted for conspiracy, extortion, impersonating a police officer, violence and assault, endangering the lives of others, and driving without a license.
