The Diass local police brigade, under the jurisdiction of the Mbour gendarmerie company, brought charges on Tuesday against two herders for conspiracy and aggravated theft of livestock. The accused, G.Ba, 18 years old and residing in Bandia, and A.Ka, are accused of stealing two cows from Mr. Ba, according to Seneweb sources.

The case began when the gendarmerie was informed of the activities of a gang specializing in cattle rustling operating between Bandia and Diass. Thanks to the information gathered, investigators first arrested the herder A.Ka, who identified his accomplice G.Ba as the mastermind of the operation.

Faced with this threat, livestock farmers in Diass and Sindia mobilized to find G.Ba, considered a notorious cattle thief who terrorizes the local population. The suspect, already known to the gendarmerie for similar offenses, had been arrested several times in the past.

Having been released from prison less than two months prior, G.Ba went to M.Ba's herd's grazing area in the bush, accompanied by his accomplice. The two men stole two cows with the intention of reselling them. When G.Ba learned of his accomplice's arrest, he fled with his brother, believing he could escape suspicion.

Hunted by farmers and local residents, G.Ba was eventually located and apprehended by his pursuers before being handed over to investigators. The gendarmes quickly arrived at the scene and recovered the suspect, who was then facing public anger.

During his interrogation, G.Ba denied the charges against him, despite accusations from his accomplice A.Ka, who had been in custody since the previous day. The search continues for O.Ba, also known as D.Ba, who is also implicated in this case of organized cattle rustling.
