Diourbel : Retour de parquet pour les 15 présumés homosexuels arrêtés
Brought before the court on Monday for acts against nature, the 15 alleged homosexuals, including a marabout, a Quranic teacher, and a man living with HIV, have just been returned to the prosecutor's office, according to Seneweb sources. They will appear before the public prosecutor at the Diourbel High Court tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd.
Summary of the facts
The Diourbel territorial gendarmerie brigade, under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Diop, dismantled a network of homosexuals, all members of a WhatsApp group. They were taken into custody.
The case began when I. Djitté, a 63-year-old divorced marabout (religious leader), filed a complaint against persons unknown. He told the police that his two iPhones had been stolen. Analysis of the results of a warrant issued to a telephone company led to the arrest of three individuals suspected of receiving stolen goods. These individuals then revealed the identity of the thief: a 20-year-old named F. Guèye.
He confessed to stealing the phones. He explained that he had had sexual relations with the marabout and that the latter had refused to pay him, claiming he had no money. This is what prompted him to steal the two phones.
That's how the marabout was arrested by the police. From complainant, he became a suspect.
Furthermore, F. Guèye revealed to investigators the identities of all members of their network. Between Thursday and Friday, the gendarmes arrested 13 other suspected homosexuals in Diourbel.
In total, 15 individuals suspected of being homosexual were arrested, including the Koranic teacher Mr. Niang. All of them reportedly confessed to the acts they are accused of.
Those who played a passive role during sexual intercourse underwent medical examinations. The tests came back positive. Medical reports indicate anal tears.
Unfortunately, one of the suspects is HIV-positive and was receiving treatment in the hospital. Investigators also seized a large quantity of condoms and lubricants.
Following the investigation by the Diourbel territorial brigade, all those involved were brought before the court on Monday before being referred back to the prosecutor's office. They will appear before the prosecutor on Tuesday, December 2nd.
