Disparition mystérieuse d'un enfant de six ans à Gorée : Une famille plongée dans l’angoisse depuis plus de 2 mois
June 29, 2025, was supposed to be a day of joy and discovery for the Diallo family on Gorée Island. But the getaway turned into a lingering nightmare for Medina resident Ismatou Diallo and her loved ones. Around 7 p.m., while they were enjoying the beach, their youngest child, Mamadou Chérif Diallo, an 8-year-old student at the Anne Marie Javouhey school, disappeared under disturbing circumstances. "A few minutes earlier, he had been posing on the rocks for me to photograph him. I looked away for a moment, and when I turned around, he was gone," says his mother, still distraught.
Accompanied by her two sisters, Ismatou immediately searched the area for her son, but to no avail. She then alerted the local police, who, with the support of the firefighters, launched an intensive search during the night of June 29 and the following day. Despite these efforts, no trace of the child was found.
Convinced that her son did not drown, Ismatou firmly states: "My son did not go into the water. Someone took him."
For more than two months, the mother has been traveling to the island daily, appealing to the authorities without receiving satisfactory answers. She believes the child was taken away from Gorée, possibly with the complicity of someone familiar with the area. "We still have hope of finding him," she says determinedly, despite her feeling that the investigation is struggling to make progress.
