Domou Sénégal inaugure une aire de jeux à l’Hôpital Dalal Jamm
The charity Domou Sénégal intervened this Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Dalal Jamm Hospital, located in the municipality of Guédiawaye (Golf Sud), continuing the actions carried out last year during a Christmas Tree organized within the establishment.
This new intervention marks a major step in the field partnership: the creation of a play area dedicated to hospitalized children, accompanied by a day of Christmas celebration and concrete support to some families in vulnerable situations.
A PLAY AREA AS A THERAPEUTIC COMPLEMENT AND TO BRING BACK A SMILE
In this hospital, many children are treated for various illnesses, including long and arduous treatment journeys. The play area, designed specifically for hospitalized children, aims to offer them a space for respite, relaxation, and joy, amidst a daily routine often marked by waiting, fatigue, and anxiety.
The objective is to contribute to improving the psychosocial well-being of hospitalized and outpatient children through the creation of a playful, safe space adapted to their needs.
Designed as a truly accessible and safe space, the area is protected by shade sails, allowing children to play out of the sun. The walls have also been adorned with vibrant, cheerful murals to reinforce the positive and welcoming atmosphere of the space.
EQUIPMENT INSTALLED
The playground, a space that meets safety standards and is adapted to children's health , includes in particular:
1 slide (donated by CAPE – Child Protection Support Unit)
1 trampoline
2 swings
1 sandbox
2 prefabricated houses
2 rocking horses
RENOVATION, SECURITY AND COMFORT WORKS
Beyond the games, significant work has been carried out on a space that was initially closed and undeveloped:
. Paving and soil preparation;
. Complete securing of the area;
Installation of shading solutions (awnings and tarpaulins);
. Creating the sandbox;
. Landscaping of green spaces with tree planting;
Installation of an irrigation system;
Electrical installation and lighting to make the area usable at the end of the day.
A CHRISTMAS DAY FOR 60 CHILDREN: GIFTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
To mark the inauguration, Domou Senegal organized a Christmas celebration for hospitalized children, including the distribution of gifts. A team of entertainers was on hand to bring joy to the 70 hospitalized children : creative arts workshops, dedicated activities, and juggling performances filled the day, creating a festive and comforting atmosphere. This inauguration ceremony, combined with the Christmas celebration, was marked by moving exchanges, shared emotions, and moments of collective fun for everyone involved.
SUPPORTING THE REDUCTION OF INEQUALITIES IN ACCESS TO QUALITY CARE
As a public health institution, Dalal Jamm Hospital aims to strengthen access to quality care for all by reducing inequalities. The Domou Sénégal charity fully supports this initiative: it acts as a community support alongside the medical teams and specialists working on-site, while also supporting families, in order to contribute to more dignified, humane care that is more comparable to the standards of leading countries, within the limits of its resources.
The health component is one of the major focuses of the association.
Through this playground, she hopes to offer a little joy and lightness to children and families during particularly difficult times in their lives.
