Drame familial à Gadiack : deux suicides en une semaine plongent le village dans la stupeur
The town of Gadiack 1 is the scene of an extraordinary tragedy. Two members of the same family took their own lives just one week apart, plunging the population into deep consternation.
The first act of this tragedy unfolded on January 20th. Diégane Ndiaye, a 60-year-old native of the village, had left his home to visit his older sister in Pindacope, in the commune of Niakhar. According to sources close to the family, he was only making a stopover before continuing his journey to Fatick for an appointment.
Unfortunately, the very next day, his lifeless body was discovered by students on their way to school. Diégane Ndiaye had taken his own life by hanging himself from a tree.
While the family was still gathered for the funeral, a second tragedy compounded their grief. A week later, the deceased's 63-year-old older sister also took her own life. Taking advantage of a moment of solitude during her brother's funeral, she hanged herself in a bedroom.
These two successive deaths within the same family have caused strong emotion and a deep psychological shock in Gadiack 1 and the surrounding villages.
An investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie to determine the exact circumstances and motives of these two tragedies.
