Électricité : Le DG de la SENELEC rassure sur la régulation des tarifs
Faced with recurring consumer complaints about the rising cost of electricity, especially during periods of high heat, the Director General of SENELEC provides clarification.
According to him, the perception of a price increase during warmer seasons is explained more by increased consumption than by a change in prices. "During hot periods, households consume more electricity, particularly with air conditioners and fans. This is naturally reflected in bills, even though the prices have not changed," he explains.
The CEO points out that electricity rates are strictly regulated by regulatory bodies that are branches of the state. "Rates are set according to precise standards and monitored by the relevant authorities," he emphasizes. He also highlights the state's social policy, through social brackets that allow low-income households to benefit from preferential rates. "More than a million subscribers pay less than 15,000 CFA francs per month. These figures are verifiable," he assures.
On the industrial side, the CEO indicates that differentiated tranches also exist, each adapted to the level of consumption and the needs of companies.
Regarding taxation, he clarified that SENELEC does not set the taxes applied to electricity. "The 18% VAT and municipal taxes are regulated by law. I do not share the opinion that the state excessively taxes the Senegalese. What circulates on social media is not always proven," he noted.
"I cannot be both judge and jury. The regulatory commission is there to ensure a balance between SENELEC, the State, and consumers," he adds.
Finally, he returned to the process of SENELEC's subsidiary, which is still under study. "It is a complex project that requires a series of feasibility studies. We will take all the parameters into account before any implementation," he concluded.

Avec tout l'argent détourné par le régime précédent le Sénégal aurait pu avoir le carburant et l'électricité les moins chers en Afrique au sud du Sahara.
Le 1er problème de l'Afrique au sud du Sahara sont les détournements de deniers publics. Le jour où ce fléau sera éradiqué, cette partie du continent se développera.
Mais ça sera compliqué pcq les voleurs ont bcp chance d'avoir des partisans et une justice faible.
En Chine depuis le temps de Mao, les voleurs sont fusillés.
Et aujourd'hui on voit que la Chine est les des deux premières puissances économiques.
Tout usager doit avoir le choix entre woyofal et compteur classique.
C'est tout le problème !
Même le type de câble contribue à la consommation. Un câble non adapté pour les prise et appareil (de petit diamètre) crée des résistance et accroît l'effet joule...consommation en plus.
Une attitude eco-responsable fait dépenser moins d'argent pour l'électricité.
La Sénégal doit arrêter de jouer avec nos nerfs..sinon ça vas bardé et un jour viendra où nous ne pourrons plus nous métrisé.. multiplier seulement le. Prix du kw par le nombre de kw utilisé et c'est tout..arrêtez c'est tranches..c mieux..
