Événements 2021-2024 : IZI et SNP lancent l’offensive, la justice en marche, premières révélations attendues
The winds of change finally seem to be blowing over the painful political events that shook Senegal between 2021 and 2024. This Thursday, October 2, the Zero Impunity Initiative (IZI) and the Senegal Our Priority (SNP) movement announced, through a joint press release, the official opening of cases related to this dark period, following a notification issued by the public prosecutor.
In this historic context, Pape Abdoulaye Touré, a torture victim, founding member of the IZI and national coordinator of the SNP, has been summoned for questioning tomorrow, Friday, October 3, at 10 a.m., at the premises of the Colobane research section. He thus becomes the first victim to be heard as part of this new judicial phase.
Both organizations emphasize that this convening marks the beginning of a long-awaited process: that of recognition, truth, and justice. "IZI and SNP signal that the time for justice and the time for truth have come."
As the country watches this first step closely, many hope that this hearing will pave the way for a series of transparent investigations and long-awaited accountability.
The case is now in the hands of the courts. It remains to be seen what they will do with it.
